I received the apology I wasn’t expecting.
Met up with an old friend named “Beef” for lunch and conversation. Our table held plates of a double cheeseburger stacked to the bun in ½ lb. ground beef, melted cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo and sauteed mushrooms. His paired with seasoned fries, mine with a chicken jalapeno meat pie from 2 Phat Bastards, and 2 drinks. Normally I’m the unlicensed therapist, but today I was on the couch, still listening, laughing, and taking mental notes while catching up on the latest in each other’s world.
When in a talkative mood, I love being able to talk freely. And openly. With open-minded minds who are trustworthy and non-judgy. He was one of those people… until pillow talk party of 2 turned into a classroom group discussion. He told on himself and unsurprisingly broke my trust. Adults who can’t hold secrets are the worst to trust. Because why you gotta talk so much?? Years later and emotional feelings aside, we talked it out and all is good.
The love and respect will remain, but in the season of spinning the block, I’m vegan.
