Is $50/hour the new middle class? That equals to $104,000/year.
Comparable to his other content centered around the housing market + financial tips, a realtor posed the $50 question. The comment section was full of entertaining responses on everything but the answer: the current state of the economy, minimum wage, why getting a master’s degree is a scam, the sorrows of no longer having a $900 mortgage. Teacher salaries entered the convo and patrons earning $50+ an hour desire a pay increase as an incentive for being a loyal employee of 30+ years.
Of the responses, 2 stuck out. One person stated, “$50/hr is more than enough and people need to budget better.”
The other response stated, “there is no middle class, either you’re well off or you’re broke.”
We’ve seen inflation with gas prices, flights, the price of eggs, bacon, cereal, and every damn thing else. Kroger had a 2/$5 special on almond milk. In the last 6 months or so, the price increased to around $.60 costing $3.29 for a half gallon. Imagine the year 2033 and 1 carton of milk costing a smooth $5-$10 and some change. Insanity! But, we’d find a way to pay it.
