Esther’s Signature Dish- Houston, TX

Sometime last year I was dining at the original location and was given a flyer to check out their new breakfast/lunch location. We finally made it today. Surprisingly we started off as the only customers in the restaurant but others slowly started gathering in. This location is bigger than the original and there now seems to be a private area for special occasions.

There was a steam table with oxtails, mac n cheese, greens, yams and a few other things. We both ordered off the menu and got the ‘Holy Trinity Breakfast Platter’, which is your choice of pancake, waffle or french toast, 2 eggs, sausage patties or bacon and grits. I did french toast while momz did pancakes. Don’t trip because it only says 1 pancake, the pancake is huge and literally takes up almost the whole plate. I also had a mimosa and the brought us a carafe of water. Once you order you’re given a number, find a seat and they’ll bring the food to you. There’s a window where you can see in the kitchen and everything appeared to be very clean and in order. About 10 minutes later our food was served hot and fresh. It looked delicious! And tasted delicious as well. The mimosa had a little too much OJ so that’s probably the only thing I’ll change next time. Other than that everything was perfect!

The 2 ladies at the service counter were attentive and the chef (forgot his name but he told us he’s from Mississippi) was very kind, accomodating and ensured we were happy with our meals. I would highly recommend trying this place out and I will definitely be back to try the blackened catfish and grits and other items on the menu.
